India is making air travel more inclusive with the launch of budget-friendly airport eateries under the UDAN Scheme. The initiative introduces “UDAN Yatri Cafes” offering snacks like tea for ₹10 and samosas for ₹20, addressing the long-standing issue of expensive airport food.
The move is part of the government’s broader effort to improve passenger experience and affordability beyond ticket pricing. By targeting one of the biggest pain points—high food costs at terminals—the initiative aims to make flying more accessible, especially for middle-class and budget travellers.
These cafes are being set up across multiple airports in India, ensuring travelers have access to hygienic and economical food options while waiting for their flights. The focus remains on providing essential snacks and meals at reasonable prices without compromising quality.
The initiative complements India’s regional connectivity push, strengthening efforts to make air travel convenient, inclusive, and passenger-friendly across the country.
