Air India Flight Stranded in Jaipur After Pilot’s Duty Time.

A bizarre and frustrating situation unfolded on Monday when an Air India flight, AI-2022, traveling from Paris to Delhi, was delayed for over 9 hours at Jaipur Airport. The flight, which had departed Paris at 10:00 PM on Sunday, was scheduled to land in Delhi at 10:35 AM, but poor weather conditions forced it to divert to Jaipur. After waiting in Jaipur for clearance to proceed to Delhi, the pilot, citing the completion of his duty hours, left the aircraft, leaving over 180 passengers stranded on board.

The passengers, who had been waiting for several hours, were taken aback when the pilot exited the plane, with no immediate solution or communication from the airline. As the hours passed, frustration grew, and the passengers began to protest, demanding an alternative flight or any form of assistance to continue their journey to Delhi. However, the airline did not provide any clear resolution in the immediate aftermath.

Despite the lack of action from Air India, the airport authority stepped in to offer food and basic amenities to the stranded passengers in an effort to ease their discomfort. However, this did little to calm the passengers, who had been left in a state of uncertainty for a prolonged period.

The situation further escalated when it was revealed that the passengers would not be flown to Delhi by air as expected. Instead, they were transported by road, adding more inconvenience to an already stressful experience. The journey by road to Delhi was far from ideal, especially after such an exhausting ordeal at Jaipur Airport.

This incident highlights the challenges faced by passengers due to unforeseen delays, mismanagement, and lack of adequate contingency planning by airlines. While the weather and the pilot’s duty hours were outside the airline’s immediate control, the lack of a swift response to manage the situation left passengers feeling stranded and neglected.

The incident has raised concerns about the need for better communication, transparency, and customer care during such flight disruptions. It also underscores the importance of having a clear protocol in place for handling delays, especially on long international flights, to ensure that passengers are not left in limbo for extended periods.
