Nearly three-fourths of the Air India Group’s aircraft have been identified with repetitive technical defects, according to data presented in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. The findings are part of a broader safety review conducted by the government across major Indian airlines since January 2025, highlighting recurring maintenance-related issues in the sector.

Out of 267 Air India Group aircraft analysed, nearly 75% were found to have recurring technical defects.

Industry-Wide Analysis
Across six scheduled airlines, 754 aircraft were examined for repetitive deficiencies by aviation authorities.

Total Aircraft Flagged
A total of 377 aircraft were identified with recurring defects since January last year, as per government data.

Parliamentary Disclosure
The information was shared by the government in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Regulatory Oversight
The analysis forms part of ongoing monitoring to strengthen aircraft safety and maintenance compliance across Indian airlines.
