Air Kerala Announces Kochi as Operational Hub for Airlines.

Air Kerala, the first airline to be established in Kerala, has officially designated Cochin International Airport as the operational hub for its services. The announcement was made during a press event where Harish Moideen Kutty, the Chief Operating Officer of the airline, confirmed that Air Kerala plans to begin its operations by early June with its inaugural flight from Kochi.

The airline, known for its no-frills model, aims to initially focus on providing connectivity to Tier II and III cities within South and Central India. This will allow it to tap into underserved domestic markets before expanding its reach. The airline’s long-term vision includes entering the international sector by 2027, with a goal of operating a fleet of 20 aircraft to support its global expansion.

The declaration of Kochi as the airline’s operational hub marks a significant milestone for both the airline and the state. The announcement was made official by Minister of Industries P. Rajeeve, who emphasized the importance of the new airline in enhancing Kerala’s connectivity and boosting the state’s economy. With the launch of Air Kerala, the airline is expected to contribute significantly to the regional aviation industry and offer affordable travel options to passengers across South and Central India.

By focusing on domestic connectivity first, Air Kerala is strategically positioning itself to build a solid foundation before making its entry into international aviation, promising exciting opportunities for travelers in Kerala and beyond.
