Chinese aviation start-up AutoFlight has unveiled the world’s largest flying car as China accelerates efforts to dominate the low-altitude economy. Backed by EV battery giant CATL, the Shanghai-based company showcased its five-tonne class eVTOL aircraft, Matrix, after a successful flight demonstration in Kunshan near Shanghai.
Designed for both passenger transport and heavy-duty logistics, Matrix marks a major scale-up in the flying car sector, which has so far focused on smaller aircraft. The development highlights China’s rapid progress in setting standards and regulations for commercial eVTOL operations.
