A councillor from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was arrested after allegedly sexually harassing a cabin crew member on an IndiGo flight from Chennai to Delhi. The complaint was filed by a 25-year-old air hostess, who accused the passengers of inappropriate behaviour during the flight.
According to police, Tiruvallur municipal councillor Prabhakaran (45) and his associate Thiyagu (40) allegedly misbehaved with the crew member on February 25 while she was serving snacks on board. Officials said the accused were reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at the All Women Police Station in Meenambakkam. The two men were later taken into custody at Chennai International Airport after they returned to the city. Police confirmed that another person accompanying Prabhakaran was also detained for questioning in connection with the case.
Authorities are currently interrogating the accused as the investigation continues. The incident has drawn political attention as opposition leaders, including K. Annamalai, criticised the development and linked it to a series of legal cases involving party functionaries.
