HAL Confirms GE Engine Delivery Ramp-Up for Tejas Mk1A.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has confirmed that GE Aerospace will ramp up deliveries of the F404-IN20 engines to support the Tejas Mk1A fighter programme. As per the updated timeline, GE is expected to deliver 30 engines per year starting from FY 2027–28, addressing earlier supply delays and boosting aircraft production momentum.

Engine Delivery Schedule:
GE Aerospace will begin supplying up to 30 F404-IN20 engines annually from FY 2027–28 onward.

Support for Tejas Mk1A Program:
The engines will power the Tejas Mk1A fighter jets being produced for the Indian Air Force.

Production Bottleneck Easing:
The ramp-up is expected to resolve engine shortages that had slowed aircraft deliveries.

Strengthening Indigenous Fighter Fleet:
Timely engine availability will help accelerate Tejas Mk1A induction and enhance IAF combat strength.

HAL–GE Collaboration:
The confirmation reinforces ongoing cooperation between HAL and GE Aerospace in India’s fighter aircraft ecosystem.
