IndiGo Launches Daily Flights Between Tiruchirappalli and Jaffna.

IndiGo has become the first airline to launch direct flights between Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu and Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka, further strengthening air connectivity between South India and the island nation. The low-cost carrier announced that daily operations on this route will commence from March 30, offering passengers a convenient travel option between the two regions.

The introduction of this new route comes in response to growing passenger demand, particularly among travelers with cultural, business, and family ties between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka’s Northern Province. IndiGo aims to enhance accessibility while providing affordable and seamless travel options for passengers.

Jaffna International Airport, which reopened for commercial flights in recent years, is emerging as a crucial gateway for air travel between Sri Lanka and India. With this new addition, IndiGo further expands its presence in Sri Lanka, complementing its existing operations in Colombo.

The airline’s latest move aligns with its broader strategy to strengthen regional connectivity and cater to the increasing demand for international travel from tier-2 Indian cities. IndiGo’s expansion into Jaffna is expected to boost tourism, trade, and economic ties between the two neighboring regions.
