Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu announced on Sunday, December 22, that Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore will see significant infrastructure upgrades in the coming years, with the construction of a new terminal building set to be completed by 2028. This expansion will increase the airport’s passenger capacity and enhance overall facilities, supporting the growing demand for air travel in the region.
The new terminal is part of a broader effort to modernize and expand the airport’s infrastructure. The upgraded terminal will feature more space, better amenities, and improved services for passengers, further solidifying Indore’s position as a key aviation hub in central India. The expansion is expected to accommodate the increasing number of travelers and support the region’s economic growth by facilitating smoother and more efficient air travel.
In addition to the new terminal, Naidu also inaugurated a new tower-cum-technical block for air traffic control at the airport. This state-of-the-art facility will enhance the airport’s operational efficiency and contribute to safer, more streamlined air traffic management. Furthermore, a new garbage disposal plant was also opened, reflecting the airport’s commitment to sustainability and maintaining a clean, eco-friendly environment.
These developments come at a time when Indore’s aviation sector is witnessing rapid growth, with more flights and improved connectivity to other parts of India and beyond. The Civil Aviation Minister emphasized that these upgrades are essential to meeting the rising demand for air travel and supporting the region’s economic progress. By 2028, with a longer runway and upgraded infrastructure, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport will be well-positioned to handle an even higher volume of passengers and become a more important player in India’s aviation landscape.
