Lufthansa expects to receive its first Boeing 777-9 aircraft in early 2027, according to CEO Carsten Spohr. The airline is the launch customer of the delayed Boeing 777X program.
The first aircraft, the Boeing 777-9, is expected to be delivered after several years of certification and production delays faced by Boeing.
According to Lufthansa, the aircraft will enter passenger service during summer 2027, marking an important milestone for both the airline and the manufacturer.
Initial operations are planned from Frankfurt Airport, one of Lufthansa’s main international hubs.
The introduction of the new widebody jet is expected to enhance long-haul operations with improved fuel efficiency, modern cabin features, and increased passenger capacity.
