Mahakumbh 2025, Prayagraj Airport to Host 55 Flights, More Expected.

As the 2025 Mahakumbh approaches, Prayagraj Airport is preparing for a remarkable surge in air traffic, dubbed the “Kumbh of planes.” With the holy event expected to draw millions of devotees, airlines are ramping up their services to cater to the influx of passengers. So far, 55 flight schedules have been released by various airlines, with expectations that the number will continue to rise as the event draws closer. This year, Prayagraj will see an unprecedented number of flights operating from its airport, including services from four major airlines: Akasa, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Alliance Air.

For the first time in the history of the Mahakumbh, these airlines will be providing direct flight services to and from the city. The newly announced schedules include a variety of domestic connections that will facilitate easier and quicker travel for both pilgrims and other travelers coming to witness the religious event.

Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, has already released its schedule for direct flights from Prayagraj to Indore and Jaipur. Alliance Air’s Jaipur flight will begin operations on January 10, with a weekly service. The flight will depart Jaipur every Friday at 5:00 pm, arriving in Prayagraj at 6:50 pm. Similarly, the return flight from Prayagraj to Jaipur will operate every Sunday at 6:45 pm, arriving in Jaipur at 8:35 pm. The Indore-Prayagraj flight will also operate once a week, starting on January 11. This flight will depart Indore every Saturday at 8:05 pm, reaching Prayagraj at 10:05 pm. The return flight from Prayagraj to Indore will operate every Monday at 7:40 pm, reaching Indore at 9:40 pm.

The major airlines operating during the Mahakumbh include:

  • Alliance Air: Offering flights to Delhi, Bilaspur, Jaipur, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Dehradun, Chandigarh, and Kolkata.
  • IndiGo: Providing flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad.
  • SpiceJet: Operating flights to Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore.
  • Akasa Air: Connecting Prayagraj with Mumbai and Delhi.

In addition to these airlines, there are talks that Air India Express might also introduce direct flight services from additional cities. This will further enhance connectivity for travelers flocking to the region for the grand spiritual event.

The Mahakumbh is expected to be one of the largest gatherings in the world, and the surge in flight operations reflects the scale of the event. With airlines stepping up their services, travelers can look forward to smoother and more convenient travel to Prayagraj, ensuring that the journey to the Mahakumbh is just as seamless as the spiritual experience itself.
