Mahindra Airways, based at Mumbai International Airport, has achieved a significant milestone by securing its Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP) #10/2024 from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India on October 27. This marks the airline’s formal entry into the country’s growing aviation market. The carrier has also inducted its first aircraft, a brand-new Challenger 3500 business jet, registered as VT-MAY (msn 21016).
The Challenger 3500, manufactured by Bombardier, was ferried from Montréal Trudeau International Airport to Delhi International Airport between August 20 and 23. Its delivery route included stops at Shannon in Ireland, Kalamata in Greece, and Dubai World Central in the UAE. The aircraft, which flew under Bombardier’s ‘BBA’ code, highlights Mahindra Airways’ commitment to offering premium business aviation services.
The Challenger 3500 is a state-of-the-art jet known for its cutting-edge technology, luxurious interiors, and superior performance. This addition positions Mahindra Airways to cater to India’s growing demand for non-scheduled charter services, which are increasingly popular among corporate travelers and high-net-worth individuals seeking flexible and exclusive travel options.
With the issuance of the NSOP and the induction of the Challenger 3500, Mahindra Airways is set to play a pivotal role in India’s business aviation sector. This development aligns with the broader trend of increased investment in private aviation, reflecting the industry’s robust growth potential. As Mahindra Airways begins operations, its progress will be closely monitored by industry stakeholders anticipating its impact on the country’s aviation landscape.
