Parandur Airport Nears Approval as Proposal Moves Forward.

The much-anticipated Parandur airport project is moving closer to its final approval, as the high-level Steering Committee has recommended forwarding the proposal to the Ministry of Civil Aviation. This marks a significant step toward the project’s formal clearance, paving the way for the next stage of development.

The Tamil Nadu government has been actively pushing for the second airport in Chennai to decongest the existing Chennai International Airport, which is operating near its capacity. The proposed airport at Parandur is expected to enhance connectivity, support economic growth, and cater to the increasing demand for air travel in the region.

The Steering Committee’s recommendation signals the completion of crucial groundwork, including feasibility studies, environmental assessments, and land acquisition planning. Once the Ministry of Civil Aviation reviews and grants its approval, the project will move into its implementation phase, bringing Chennai closer to becoming a two-airport city.

Stakeholders, including government authorities, industry experts, and the local population, are keenly watching the developments, as the new airport is expected to drive infrastructure growth and boost employment opportunities. With the final decision now in the hands of the central authorities, the aviation sector is awaiting the green signal that will mark the beginning of a transformative chapter for Tamil Nadu’s air connectivity.
