Pune International Airport is set to transition its entire flight operations to the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) from 2 AM on March 5. The shift marks a significant milestone in the airport’s expansion efforts, aimed at improving passenger experience and operational efficiency.
Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, had earlier announced during the launch of Digi Yatra on February 8 that 80% of domestic and international flights had already begun operating from the new terminal at the start of February. With the full transition now scheduled, passengers can expect streamlined operations and enhanced facilities.
Spanning 52,000 square meters, the NITB is designed to accommodate growing passenger traffic, featuring 10 aerobridges, 34 check-in counters, 25 self-check-in kiosks, and five baggage carousels, two of which are dedicated to international arrivals. The new terminal significantly boosts Pune Airport’s capacity, allowing it to handle up to nine million passengers annually.
The upgraded infrastructure aligns the airport with global aviation standards, positioning Pune as a key hub in India’s expanding air travel network. Authorities anticipate smoother operations and a better travel experience for passengers as the transition is fully implemented.
