Six Flight Attendants Injured on EVA Air Flight Due to Turbulence.

On August 11, six flight attendants were reportedly injured when an EVA Air flight encountered severe turbulence during its journey from Jakarta to Taipei. The incident occurred just two hours into the flight, which was operated by a Boeing 777-35E (ER) aircraft, registration B-16711.

Passengers had boarded EVA Air flight BR238 at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport shortly after 2:30 PM local time. The flight was proceeding smoothly until the turbulence struck unexpectedly while the inflight meal service was underway. The sudden jolt caused chaos in the cabin, leading to injuries among the flight attendants as they attended to passengers.

According to initial reports, the turbulence was severe enough to disrupt the meal service and resulted in some flight attendants being thrown against the cabin walls or into other objects. Despite the injuries, the flight crew managed to maintain control of the situation and ensured the safety of the passengers.

Upon landing in Taipei, medical personnel were on standby to assist the injured flight attendants. They received prompt medical attention, and while some sustained serious injuries, reports indicated that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

EVA Air expressed its concern for the injured crew members and stated that the airline would conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. The safety of passengers and crew is always the highest priority, and EVA Air is committed to ensuring such incidents are minimized through continuous training and adherence to safety protocols.

Turbulence is a common occurrence in air travel, often caused by changes in weather conditions, such as thunderstorms or air currents. While pilots are trained to handle turbulence, unexpected severe turbulence can still pose risks to both crew and passengers.

As the investigation continues, EVA Air and aviation safety authorities will analyze flight data and weather conditions at the time of the incident to determine the cause and ensure that appropriate measures are implemented to enhance safety in the future. Passengers are reminded to always follow crew instructions, especially when seatbelt signs are illuminated, to minimize the risk of injury during turbulent conditions.
