SpiceJet Rebounds with Expanding Fleet, Plans to Unground 10 Aircraft by April 2025.

SpiceJet is steadily regaining momentum, making significant strides in expanding its fleet and strengthening its operational capabilities. The low-cost carrier added one aircraft every nine days during the recently concluded December quarter, marking a 55% increase in its operational fleet strength. The addition of 10 aircraft during this period has allowed the airline to expand its network by launching flights to new destinations and reinstating services to locations it had previously discontinued.

The airline’s efforts to restore its fleet come on the back of a crucial fundraising initiative that brought in ₹3,000 crore, with ₹800 crore specifically earmarked for reviving grounded aircraft. This infusion of capital has provided much-needed relief, enabling SpiceJet to bring several planes back into operation and ensuring better connectivity for passengers.

The airline has outlined an ambitious plan to unground multiple aircraft, including seven Boeing 737 Max, four Boeing 737 NG, and six Bombardier Q400 aircraft. These narrow-body and short-haul planes play a crucial role in the airline’s domestic and international operations. At least 10 of these aircraft are expected to be back in the air by April 2025, a move that will not only enhance the airline’s capacity but also improve its on-time performance and overall reliability.

With an expanding fleet and renewed focus on operational efficiency, SpiceJet is positioning itself for a strong resurgence in the highly competitive Indian aviation market. The airline’s ability to reinstate discontinued routes and expand to new destinations underscores its commitment to growth and stability. As it continues to add more aircraft and optimize its network, SpiceJet aims to regain passenger confidence and strengthen its foothold in the industry.
