AirJapan operated its final flights on March 28, 2026, bringing an end to its long journey spanning over three decades. The airline’s last departure from Narita International Airport was marked with a farewell event.

A part of ANA Group, AirJapan was relaunched in February 2024 as a hybrid carrier, offering a mix of full-service comfort and low-cost fares. It initially operated a single route between Tokyo Narita and Bangkok.

Originally founded as World Air Network in 1990, the airline underwent several transformations and rebrandings over the years before becoming AirJapan. Despite its strategic positioning, the brand had a relatively short run in its latest form.

The closure highlights the challenges faced by hybrid and low-cost long-haul carriers in a competitive aviation market. The end of AirJapan marks the conclusion of a unique chapter in Asia-Pacific aviation history.
