Utah-based Breeze Airways, founded by veteran airline entrepreneur David Neeleman, has announced a significant expansion of its network, including its first-ever nonstop service to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The move marks a key milestone as the airline approaches its five-year anniversary.
In addition to the new Caribbean route, Breeze is expanding international flying from several U.S. cities, including Columbus, Pittsburgh, Richmond, and Tampa. The airline is also strengthening its presence in Atlantic City, where it now operates seven nonstop routes—more than any other carrier at the airport—offering travelers increased connectivity and affordable travel options.
Speaking on the expansion, Neeleman highlighted the airline’s rapid growth and evolving network strategy. He emphasized Breeze’s focus on underserved markets, particularly mid-sized cities that lack direct connections to popular leisure destinations. By offering point-to-point services instead of relying on traditional hub systems, Breeze continues to carve out a unique position in the aviation market.
Breeze’s business model targets routes previously dominated by low-cost carriers, providing competitive fares with added value. While it may not yet match the scale of larger airlines, the carrier is strategically positioned to grow in markets where demand remains strong and options are limited, especially as it fills gaps left in certain routes.
