Korean Air has officially unveiled its donated Boeing 747-400 at the newly named Korean Air Aviation Gallery inside the California Science Center, highlighting the airline’s long-standing connection with the Los Angeles community and aviation enthusiasts.

The aircraft, registered as HL7489, served in Korean Air’s fleet from 1994 until its retirement in 2014. During its two decades of operation, the iconic jumbo jet completed 13,842 flights and accumulated more than 86,095 flight hours across international routes worldwide. The Boeing 747-400 played a major role in connecting passengers between Asia, North America, and other global destinations during the peak era of long-haul aviation.

As part of the museum exhibit, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the aircraft both inside and outside, offering a closer look at one of the world’s most recognizable commercial aircraft. The aviation gallery is expected to become a major attraction for aviation fans, students, and tourists visiting Los Angeles.

Korean Air stated that the donation reflects its commitment to preserving aviation history and supporting educational initiatives through its partnership with the California Science Center. The display also celebrates the lasting legacy of the Boeing 747, often referred to as the “Queen of the Skies.”
