Thai Airways International is set to retire two Airbus A350-900 aircraft by the end of 2026 as part of a wider fleet restructuring plan. The two A350s will leave the fleet alongside two Boeing 787-8s and two Boeing 777-200ERs, bringing the total number of aircraft scheduled for retirement this year to six.
The A350-900 will continue to play an important role in Thai Airways’ long-haul operations, with its fuel efficiency, modern cabin and lower operating costs. The two aircraft being retired are reaching the end of their lease contracts, and the airline has decided not to extend them as part of its efforts to manage capacity and operating costs.
Thai Airways is also preparing for future fleet expansion, with additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners expected later this decade. The airline plans to build toward an active fleet of around 100 aircraft while maintaining the A350 and 787 families as key parts of its long-haul network.
