NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman piloted an F-5 fighter jet and led a three-aircraft formation over Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland before the Cleveland Browns faced the Carolina Panthers. The flyover featured three Freedom 250 F-5s during the pregame ceremony.
The event marked Isaacman’s first NFL flyover as the pilot of an F-5, according to Spectrum News. Two employees from NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland also participated through NASA’s Flight Experience Award program.
The flyover was part of NASA’s new collaboration with the NFL, which includes flyovers, astronaut appearances and fan activities at games across the United States during the season.
Isaacman has more than 8,000 flight hours and is qualified to fly several military aircraft, including the F-5, MiG-29, A-4 and L-39. He has also commanded two private space missions, Inspiration4 and Polaris Dawn.
