The former German Air Force Airbus A340-300, registration 16+01 and named Konrad Adenauer, is set to become a major addition to the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Military History at Berlin-Gatow Airfield in Germany. The aircraft served as a government transport aircraft from 2011 to 2023, carrying senior government officials on official journeys.
The future museum exhibit is being provided by Lufthansa Technik. It will consist of the forward and upper section of the aircraft’s fuselage, measuring approximately 30 metres in length, including the cockpit and the fully equipped government cabin.
Transporting the aircraft section will involve a journey of around 2,500 kilometres by sea and land. The route will begin in Teruel, Spain, before passing through Hamburg and continuing to Berlin-Gatow Airfield.
The section is expected to arrive in late October or early November. Once incorporated into the museum’s exhibition, it will offer visitors an opportunity to explore part of a former German government aircraft and learn more about its role in official air transport.
