Alaska Airlines is planning one of its longest Boeing 737 flights with a new seasonal service connecting Anchorage, Alaska, with Tokyo Narita, Japan, starting May 13, 2027.

The daily service will operate from May 13 to September 7, 2027, covering approximately 2,984 nautical miles across the northern Pacific.

Outbound flight AS21 is scheduled to take 8 hours and 15 minutes, while the eastbound return flight AS22 is expected to last 7 hours and 15 minutes.

Passengers will travel on standard domestic aircraft, meaning First Class will not feature lie-flat beds and the cabin will not have seatback entertainment screens. Travellers will instead be able to stream films and television programmes over wireless networks using their own phones or tablets.

The seasonal route will provide a direct link between Alaska and Japan while showcasing the long-range capabilities of Alaska Airlines’ Boeing 737 fleet.
