AS 350 B3e (VT-RRA) is a single-engine light utility variant of the Eurocopter AS350 helicopter. Its predecessor–originally designed and manufactured in France–was introduced to the market in 1974. The AS350B was designed for international sale and was certified in France on October 27, 1977. Deliveries began the following year in March 1978. Its latest variant, the AS350 B3e, was introduced in 2011 and has recently been renamed the Airbus H125. It received FAA certification in March 2015.
Powered by a Turbomeca Arriel 2D engine, the AS350 B3e is versatile and has increased reliability. It has a new generation FADEC system and a dual LCD-screen Vehicle and Engine Multifunction Display that reduced pilot workload. The airframe is made of composite material, preventing corrosion and reduces maintenance costs. Its cabin can be reconfigured to allow for various missions, including utility, medevac, passenger transportation, and search & rescue.
In 2005, the Airbus H125 broke the world record as the highest-altitude landing and takeoff on Mount Everest at 29,029 ft. More than 900 AS350 B3e aircraft have been produced and delivered around the world.
