A320neo gets engine with 8% thrust boost.

Pratt & Whitney has achieved a key regulatory milestone after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency certified its GTF Advantage™ engine for the Airbus A320neo. This latest approval paves the way for production deliveries and the engine’s entry into service with airlines worldwide.

The certification from European Union Aviation Safety Agency comes after earlier approvals, including clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration in February 2025 and EASA’s type validation in October 2025. These milestones mark a significant step forward in introducing the upgraded powerplant to the global aviation market.

The GTF Advantage™ engine is designed to deliver up to an 8% thrust boost, offering improved performance, better fuel efficiency, and enhanced durability. The upgrade is expected to support airlines in operating more efficiently while meeting growing demand across short- and medium-haul routes.

With this development, Airbus strengthens the capabilities of its A320neo family, already one of the most popular aircraft in commercial aviation. The new engine is set to play a key role in boosting operational performance and reducing environmental impact for next-generation fleets.
