Bengaluru-based AeroQuest has developed a 5.5-acre private airfield with a 1,000-foot runway on the outskirts of Bengaluru to support UAV and defence testing operations. The facility is expected to strengthen India’s growing drone and aerospace testing ecosystem.
The newly developed airfield will be used for testing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), defence technologies, and advanced aviation systems. Industry experts believe such private infrastructure can help accelerate innovation and reduce dependency on limited government-operated testing facilities.
AeroQuest said the airfield has been designed to support research, prototype trials, and operational testing for defence and aerospace applications. The development comes at a time when India is witnessing rapid growth in the drone sector, driven by rising demand from defence, surveillance, logistics, and industrial sectors.
The project also highlights Bengaluru’s expanding role as a major hub for aerospace and defence technology in India. With increasing investments in indigenous aviation and drone capabilities, private testing facilities like this are expected to play a key role in future aerospace development.
