An Air India flight from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur on October 14 following a suspected hijack threat that triggered a security alert. Flight AI-2030 landed safely at Jaipur International Airport and was escorted to a designated isolation bay for security checks.
According to reports, the pilot activated Squawk Code 7500, an internationally recognised transponder code indicating hijacking or unlawful interference, while the aircraft was in the Mumbai Flight Information Region (FIR). Airport authorities subsequently alerted the police about the emergency landing.
Police and security personnel inspected the aircraft while passengers were disembarked under supervision. Passengers and their baggage underwent security screening as authorities followed standard procedures for a potential aviation security threat.
Air India confirmed that security agencies had completed the necessary checks and cleared the aircraft and crew. All passengers were screened and later reboarded the flight.
The airline said its teams coordinated with the authorities to minimise disruption and apologised for the inconvenience caused. Air India reiterated that passenger and crew safety remain its highest priority.
