Air India Restores All Grounded Aircraft Fleet.

Air India has successfully brought all 30 of its previously grounded legacy aircraft back into active service, marking a major milestone since its takeover by the Tata Group. With this achievement, the airline’s total fleet strength has now increased to 186 aircraft.

The final aircraft to return to operations was the Boeing 777-300ER registered as VT-ALL. This restoration completes the revival of 19 narrowbody and 11 widebody aircraft that had remained non-operational for years before privatisation.

Industry sources highlight that reviving these aircraft required extensive engineering efforts, maintenance checks, and investment. The move reflects Air India’s strong commitment to rebuilding its operational capabilities and enhancing fleet availability across domestic and international routes.

This development is being seen as a key step in Air India’s broader transformation strategy, aimed at improving reliability, expanding network capacity, and regaining its position as a world-class global carrier.
