Air India is set to introduce its brand-new Boeing 787-9 and upgraded 787-8 aircraft on key London Heathrow services from Summer 2026, marking a major step in its fleet modernisation and product upgrade strategy. The move will enhance passenger experience while optimising long-haul operations.
- Delhi–London with New 787-9:
The latest Dreamliner will operate select Delhi–Heathrow flights between May and July 2026, replacing older aircraft on the route. - Mumbai–London Upgrade:
From July 2026, one of the Mumbai–Heathrow rotations will also be served by the Boeing 787-9, expanding the airline’s premium product to more travellers. - Refurbished 787-8 Introduction:
Retrofitted 787-8 aircraft with new cabins will be deployed on Heathrow routes from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru in phases starting April 2026. - Cabin & Product Enhancement:
The upgraded aircraft feature modern interiors, new seating across classes, advanced inflight entertainment, and improved comfort as part of the airline’s transformation plan. - Fleet Optimisation:
Induction of these aircraft will free up Boeing 777s for deployment on other long-haul routes, improving network efficiency.
