Airbus Teams Up with Mahindra to Build H130 Fuselage.

Airbus Helicopters has entered into a strategic partnership with Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt Ltd (MASPL) to manufacture and assemble the main fuselage of its H130 light single-engine helicopter in India, marking a significant step forward for the country’s aerospace manufacturing sector.

The agreement was formalized in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and is being hailed as a milestone under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. As part of the deal, MASPL, a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group, will become the first Indian private company to produce full fuselages for Airbus Helicopters. The first deliveries are scheduled to begin by March 2027.

The H130 helicopter is widely used for passenger transport, medical evacuation, and aerial work, making it a high-demand model in both civil and parapublic segments. This contract not only enhances India’s role in Airbus’s global supply chain but also strengthens its position as a reliable manufacturing base for high-precision aerostructures.

Industry analysts view the deal as a significant vote of confidence in India’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities. It is expected to generate local employment, boost indigenous technology adoption, and create opportunities for Indian suppliers and small businesses engaged in aerospace.

With this collaboration, Airbus reaffirms its long-term commitment to India, while Mahindra cements its growing role in the global aviation ecosystem.
