More than 100 Vietnam War veterans were flown from Oshkosh to Washington aboard a special American Airlines flight donated as part of the Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight program during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.
The mission, operated by an all-volunteer crew, gave veterans the opportunity to visit memorials built in their honor at no cost. The flight was operated using Flagship Valor, an Airbus A321 featuring a special livery dedicated to Medal of Honor recipients.
Among those onboard was Gary Littrell, a Medal of Honor recipient recognized for his extraordinary leadership during a four-day battle in the Vietnam War.
During their visit, the veterans toured Arlington National Cemetery, witnessed the Changing of the Guard, and visited the Lincoln Memorial and the United States Air Force Memorial.
The veterans received an emotional welcome upon returning to Oshkosh, where thousands of visitors attending EAA AirVenture gathered to celebrate and thank them for their service.
