Boeing has officially completed rework on the final 787 Dreamliner that required repairs for small fuselage gaps, marking the end of its dedicated 787 repair factory. Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope confirmed the milestone this week, signaling a major step forward for the aircraft manufacturer.

The last of 122 long-stored Dreamliners awaiting repairs was recently completed by mechanics in Everett, Washington. These aircraft had been set aside due to production flaws that required extensive inspections and modifications before they could be delivered to customers. With the backlog now cleared, Boeing is shifting its focus toward ramping up production efficiency.

As part of this transition, Boeing has reassigned mechanics who worked on the 787 rework to support the production of the highly anticipated 777X. The 777X program, which has faced multiple delays, is expected to benefit from the additional workforce as Boeing aims to accelerate assembly and meet future delivery timelines.

The completion of the 787 repairs is a significant milestone for Boeing, which has been working to resolve manufacturing challenges and restore confidence in its production processes. With the reallocation of resources to the 777X program, the company is positioning itself for the next phase of widebody aircraft production while ensuring smoother deliveries for airlines worldwide.
