Bolt, a three-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer working at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Texas, has been named the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Cutest Canine of 2026. Despite his playful expressions and energetic personality, Bolt has an important responsibility: detecting explosives among airport crowds as part of the airport’s security operations.
The competition began with TSA handlers nominating 85 working dogs from across the country. TSA employees then selected four finalists, before the public voted for the winner through social media.
Bolt’s handler, Daphne Wang, described him as a hardworking and energetic dog who is always excited to work. She said he remains in “working mode” even at home and never runs short of enthusiasm.
The recognition celebrates not only Bolt’s adorable personality but also the important role TSA detection dogs play in maintaining airport security and keeping travellers safe.
