BrahMos Pushes for Indigenous Manik Engine Assembly.

BrahMos Aerospace has directed efforts toward fully assembling indigenous Manik engines within India, marking a major step in strengthening the country’s self-reliance in defense manufacturing. The move aligns with India’s broader push for indigenisation under its strategic defense initiatives.

The Manik engine, developed domestically, is expected to play a key role in powering future variants of the BrahMos missile system. By shifting toward complete in-house assembly, the company aims to reduce dependence on foreign components while enhancing production efficiency and technological control.

Officials indicate that this transition will not only improve supply chain security but also accelerate delivery timelines for advanced missile systems. It is also likely to boost collaboration with Indian industries, opening up new opportunities for local manufacturers and suppliers in the defense ecosystem.

This development reinforces India’s ambition to become a global hub for defense production and exports. With BrahMos already gaining international interest, the integration of fully indigenous engines could further enhance its competitiveness in the global missile market.
