Bucharest Airport’s New Terminal Moves Closer To Construction.

The design phase of the new terminal at Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) has entered its final stage, marking a major step forward in the airport’s expansion plans.

The new passenger terminal is expected to be completed within approximately 3.5 years and will feature around 176,000 square meters of space. The facility is being designed to handle future passenger growth, with capacity planned for around 30 million passengers annually by 2040.

During peak periods, the terminal is expected to manage up to 6,500 passengers per hour, improving efficiency and passenger flow at Romania’s busiest airport.

The development will include at least 48 new aircraft parking stands and a minimum of 20 boarding bridges, allowing smoother aircraft operations and improved connectivity.

The project aims to modernize airport infrastructure, enhance passenger experience, and support the long-term growth of aviation in the region.
