Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) workers are set to strike at their Crawley office on Thursday, 6 February, in a 24-hour industrial action. The strike involves members of the Prospect union, who are protesting an ongoing dispute over pay.
Although workers received a 3-4 percent pay increase, they argue that it falls short compared to other pay deals within the industry and civil service. Deputy General Secretary Rachel Curley voiced concerns about the potential impact of the strike, emphasizing that the CAA has failed to present a satisfactory offer despite ongoing discussions.
Curley stressed that the CAA must resume negotiations in good faith to avoid further disruption. She warned that if the dispute is not resolved, it could escalate and affect the aviation industry, potentially causing delays in planned upgrades, with consequences felt by passengers.
With the strike scheduled for next week, the union is urging the CAA to address the concerns of its workers to prevent further disruption to services and ensure that the issue does not worsen.
