Construction has officially begun on a new jet engine repair facility in the Loyang industrial estate, marking a significant step in a $242 million expansion plan. The facility, managed by Singapore Aero Engine Services (SAESL), is set to become the world’s largest maintenance site for the latest generation of jet engines. These engines power some of the most popular aircraft in the world, including the Airbus A350, Airbus A380, and Boeing 787.
By 2028, the expanded SAESL facility will be able to service more than 400 engines annually, a substantial increase from the current capacity of about 300 engines per year. This growth is driven by the construction of a new 26,000 square meter integrated service center, which will be added to the company’s existing 60,000 square meter campus at Calshot Road in Loyang.
The new facility is a joint venture between British aircraft engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce and Singapore Airlines Engineering Company. It will play a key role in supporting the growing demand for maintenance services for modern jet engines, helping ensure the continued safety and reliability of these advanced aircraft.
Once completed, the facility will not only expand SAESL’s capabilities but also strengthen Singapore’s position as a global hub for aerospace services, contributing to the region’s growing aerospace industry and fostering innovation and technological advancements in engine maintenance.
