Delta Air Lines is preparing to welcome the Airbus A350-1000 to its fleet in early 2027, making it the airline’s largest aircraft. The arrival will come nearly a decade after Delta retired its final Boeing 747 in 2017.
Delta has 20 A350-1000 aircraft on firm order, with the jets powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines. The aircraft will primarily serve long-haul international and hub-to-hub routes, offering more than 20% lower fuel burn per available seat mile compared with the aircraft they replace.
The A350-1000 will feature a heavily premium-focused cabin, with around 50% of its seating dedicated to premium products. It will also debut Delta’s next-generation Delta One Suite, developed with Thompson Aero Seating following two years of design work and extensive customer feedback.
The new suites will feature sliding privacy doors, flat beds extending more than six and a half feet, smart storage and Delta’s largest-ever 24-inch seatback screens. Delta One passengers will also have access to an always-open self-service refreshment station during the flight.
The A350-1000 is set to become a key part of Delta’s international growth strategy, particularly across long-haul markets in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the South Pacific
