The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has officially certified the Boeing 737 MAX 7, marking a major milestone after nearly a decade of regulatory review.
To secure approval, Boeing redesigned the aircraft’s flight-control software, upgraded the flightcrew alerting system, and overhauled the engine anti-ice system, which had delayed certification for several years due to overheating concerns.
The certification is particularly significant for Southwest Airlines, the largest MAX 7 customer, which holds the majority of the aircraft’s outstanding orders and plans to use the jet to modernize its all-737 fleet.
The approval also provides a financial boost for Boeing, which has around 40 MAX 7 and MAX 10 aircraft already built and awaiting delivery. With certification now complete, deliveries are expected to begin soon, improving the company’s cash flow.
