France Waives Transit Visa For Indians.

Indian travellers have received a major relief as France has officially removed the requirement of an Airport Transit Visa (ATV) for Indian passport holders. The announcement was made by the Embassy of France in India, stating that the new rule came into effect from April 10, 2026.

Under this updated policy, Indian nationals holding a valid ordinary passport can now transit through the international zone of French airports without needing a transit visa, provided they do not exit the airport transit area. This move simplifies travel for passengers connecting through major hubs like Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and other French airports.

The decision is expected to benefit thousands of Indian travellers flying to destinations across Europe, North America, and beyond, as many international routes involve layovers in France. Previously, Indian passengers were required to obtain an ATV even for short layovers, which often added time and extra paperwork to travel plans.

This development is seen as a positive step in strengthening travel convenience and bilateral ties, making transit through France smoother and more accessible for Indian flyers.
