Chennai-based drone startup Garuda Aerospace has successfully raised ₹100 crore in its Series B funding round, led by Venture Catalysts (Vcats++), achieving a valuation of $250 million. The funding marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey as it continues to establish itself as a key player in India’s rapidly growing drone technology sector.
Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace, confirmed the development to The Hindu, stating that the fresh capital will be utilised to scale up the company’s existing production facility and accelerate the development of a new state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) and testing centre. This upcoming facility will focus on advanced defence drone design, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation and its alignment with India’s growing need for indigenous defence technologies.
Founded with the vision to revolutionize drone applications across industries, Garuda Aerospace has become a leading name in the domestic drone manufacturing ecosystem, catering to sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, disaster management, and defence. The company has previously collaborated with government agencies and major corporations, offering a range of drone-based services and solutions.
The latest funding round not only reflects investor confidence in the startup’s potential but also signals broader market interest in homegrown drone technology, especially as India pushes for self-reliance in critical sectors under the Make in India initiative. With this fresh capital injection, Garuda Aerospace is well-positioned to expand its footprint, enhance technological capabilities, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of drones in India and beyond.
