Lockheed Martin has begun final assembly of Germany’s first F-35A Lightning II at its Fort Worth facility, marking a key milestone in the country’s military modernization efforts. The aircraft, designated MG-01, is part of Germany’s order of 35 advanced fighter jets.

The programme highlights Germany’s transition to fifth-generation air combat capabilities, aimed at strengthening its defense and operational readiness. The F-35A is considered one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world, featuring stealth technology and advanced avionics.

Initial aircraft deliveries will support training operations in the United States, with German Air Force crews preparing for full deployment. Early-stage training will help pilots and ground staff adapt to the new platform.

Training and certification activities are set to take place at Ebbing Air National Guard Base, where Luftwaffe personnel will undergo operational preparation before the jets are fully integrated into Germany’s air fleet.
