Hong Kong International Airport has emerged as the world’s best airport, surpassing long-time leader Singapore Changi Airport, driven by major infrastructure upgrades, smoother security processes, and advanced passenger services.
The recognition came at the Global Travel Awards, organised by the U.K.-based International Media & News Group. The rankings were based on feedback from over 2.5 million travellers across more than 150 countries, making it one of the most comprehensive global travel surveys.
The result has surprised many in the aviation industry, as Singapore Changi Airport had dominated the top position for decades. However, Hong Kong’s recent focus on enhancing passenger experience, adopting cutting-edge technologies, and improving operational efficiency appears to have shifted global opinion in its favour.
Vivian Cheung Kar-fay, CEO of Airport Authority Hong Kong, expressed pride in the achievement, stating that the award reflects the collective efforts of the entire airport community in delivering world-class services.
