Hyderabad Airport Set for Major Upgrade After 13 Years.

Pakistan’s Hyderabad Airport is set to be revived and upgraded after remaining inactive for commercial flights for more than a decade. According to Pakistan Airports Authority sources, the airport could serve as an alternate facility for Karachi, Sukkur and Nawabshah during emergencies or adverse weather.

The proposed project includes extending the runway from 7,000 feet to 11,500 feet, allowing larger aircraft such as the Boeing 777 to operate at the airport. Passenger facilities are also expected to be improved as part of the development.

The upgrade could also create an opportunity for the resumption of domestic passenger services, with Hyderabad potentially developing into a regional aviation hub.

The airport last handled a commercial flight by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in 2013. If the proposed improvements are completed, the revival could strengthen air connectivity in Pakistan’s Sindh region.
