India has successfully delivered a HAL Dornier 228 aircraft to Guyana, marking a significant step in strengthening regional air connectivity and bilateral cooperation. The aircraft was transported via the Indian Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster III, showcasing India’s logistical capability and commitment to global partnerships.
The aircraft, manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, is known for its reliability, short takeoff and landing capability, and suitability for remote operations. This makes it an ideal choice for Guyana, where connectivity to interior and hard-to-reach regions is essential for development and emergency services.
Officials highlighted that the delivery reflects growing defense and aviation ties between India and Guyana. The Dornier 228 will be used to enhance regional transport, medical evacuation, and surveillance operations, contributing to improved infrastructure and public service access across the country.
This move also underlines India’s expanding role as a global aerospace exporter, particularly in supporting developing nations with cost-effective and versatile aircraft solutions.
