India Eyes Global Aviation Manufacturing Leadership.

India’s aviation industry is steadily moving beyond Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services and aiming to become a major global aviation manufacturing hub, according to AIESL Chairman and Managing Director Sharad Agarwal. He highlighted that India already possesses strong engineering talent and technical expertise that can support large-scale aerospace manufacturing in the future.

Agarwal stated that the country’s engineering capabilities are deeply integrated into the global aviation ecosystem, creating a strong foundation for aircraft component manufacturing, design, and advanced aerospace services. He emphasized that India now has the opportunity to expand its role from servicing aircraft to building and manufacturing aviation products for international markets.

The aviation sector in India has witnessed rapid growth in recent years, driven by increasing air travel demand, expanding airline fleets, and government support for aerospace development. Industry experts believe that strengthening domestic manufacturing could reduce dependency on imports while generating employment and attracting global aviation investments.

With growing infrastructure, skilled manpower, and rising participation from private companies, India is positioning itself as a future aerospace powerhouse. Experts say the next phase of growth will depend on investment in technology, supply chains, aircraft components, and partnerships with global aerospace firms.
