India has officially inaugurated one of its most ambitious aviation infrastructure projects, the Noida International Airport, marking a significant milestone in the country’s aviation expansion. The airport was inaugurated on March 28 by Narendra Modi, more than four years after he laid its foundation stone.
Located in the National Capital Region, the airport—also known by its call sign DXN—is expected to become a major hub for domestic and international connectivity. Despite the grand opening, commercial flight operations are yet to begin, with authorities working towards scaling up airline participation and route networks in the coming months.
The launch comes at a time when the global aviation industry is facing multiple challenges, including fuel supply disruptions linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions. In this context, the new airport provides a much-needed boost to India’s aviation sector, reinforcing long-term growth prospects and infrastructure readiness.
With this development, Uttar Pradesh becomes the first state in India to have five international airports, strengthening its position as a key aviation hub. The Noida International Airport is expected to play a crucial role in easing congestion in the Delhi region while supporting economic growth and regional connectivity.
