IndiGo and Air India Group Plan Flight Shifts to Navi Mumbai.

IndiGo and the Air India Group are preparing to progressively shift selected domestic and international flight operations from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). The move is expected to support the redevelopment of CSMIA’s Terminal 1 and strengthen Mumbai’s dual-airport system.

Air India Express plans to launch four daily domestic flights from NMIA in December 2026. The airline will then begin a phased transfer of its West Asia operations from January 2027, gradually expanding its presence at the new airport.

IndiGo is scheduled to commence international operations from NMIA in February 2027. As part of the transition, the airline plans to progressively transfer 12 daily international departures from CSMIA to the new airport.

By July 2027, IndiGo aims to expand its international network from NMIA to 12 destinations, increasing travel options for passengers and strengthening connectivity from the Mumbai metropolitan region.

The shift represents an important development in Mumbai’s aviation infrastructure. With operations distributed between CSMIA and NMIA, airlines will have additional capacity to support future traffic growth while enabling redevelopment work at the existing airport.
