IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers Resigns Immediately.

Pieter Elbers has resigned from his position as Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, with the airline’s board accepting his resignation with immediate effect. The sudden leadership change comes as the airline reviews its operational performance and future strategy.

Following the resignation, Rahul Bhatia will take over the management of the airline on an interim basis. Bhatia informed employees that the airline must focus on regaining the “right of choice with our customers”, emphasizing the importance of restoring passenger confidence and service reliability.

In an internal email to staff, Bhatia also addressed the operational challenges faced by the airline last year. He stated that “what happened last December should never have taken place,” referring to disruptions that impacted flight schedules and passenger services.

Bhatia acknowledged the efforts of frontline employees, noting that they “bore the brunt” of the operational disruptions during that period. He assured employees that the management will work closely with teams across the airline to strengthen operations and improve customer experience going forward.
