IndiGo has officially opened the sale for its wet-leased 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, marking a significant step in the airline’s expansion plans. The aircraft will initially operate on the Delhi-Bangkok route, with services set to begin on March 01, 2025. This move comes as part of IndiGo’s strategy to enhance its international network and provide more premium options for travelers.

IndiGo’s CEO Pieter Elbers shared that the airline’s long-term plan includes expanding its European operations starting mid-summer. The first Dreamliner is expected to arrive soon, with industry speculation suggesting that it could be the LN-FNA, currently located in Amman. IndiGo has partnered with Norse Atlantic in this arrangement, which involves wet-leasing aircraft. Both airlines have indicated plans to increase the number of aircraft involved in this deal in the coming months.

In a November stock market filing, Norse Atlantic had announced its agreement to lease two aircraft starting in February, with additional aircraft expected to join later in the year. However, the deal has since been updated, with one aircraft now expected to be inducted soon, followed by more aircraft in the months ahead. This partnership is part of IndiGo’s broader strategy to diversify its fleet and expand its international services to new destinations.

The addition of the Dreamliner is expected to offer improved service quality and efficiency, benefiting passengers traveling on long-haul routes, with more to come as IndiGo solidifies its presence in both the Asian and European markets.
